COLBSA Kicks Off Annual Scouting for Food Drive

Posted on November 8, 2018November 8, 2018 by Cradle of Liberty Council

COLBSA will kick off its annual Scouting for Food drive on Saturday, November 10. On that day, Scouts will place hangers requesting food donations on the doors of homes throughout Philadelphia, Delaware, and Montgomery counties. Residents are asked to fill grocery bags with non-perishable food items and leave them on their doorsteps for pick up at 9 a.m. on the following Saturday, November 17.

Canned goods are preferred, but box items will be accepted. Please do not donate any perishable items, including frozen foods, or anything packaged in glass jars. Suggested food items include canned soup, meat, fish, fruits and vegetables, and peanut butter in plastic containers.

Residents who do not receive a door hanger, can still participate in the Scouting for Food drive. Donations can be dropped off at the COLBSA office at 1485 Valley Forge Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday, November 26 to Wednesday, November 28, or to any local food pantry.

For a list of food banks in the area, please visit http://www.hungercoalition.org/food-pantries.

Scouts from the COLBSA will also continue its tradition of marching in the annual 6ABC Thanksgiving Day parade and collecting donated food items along the way. Be sure to say hi along the parade route!
